Plurk app [26 Jul 2009|01:22am]
I just downloaded the Plurk App. What's truly sucky about it is that there is no 'Mark All As Read' button. :( So the number icon for my unread friends' update is 200+

Erg, now I know why only 37 people have rated the friggin' app.

Quickoffice, 8 and Lose It! [24 Jul 2009|06:30am]
I woke up at 4am and I could't get back to sleep since. I surfed the app store in search for funner or more useful apps. I decided to give a review as well as I've got 3 hours to kill before I jog in UP. I found Quickoffice, 8 and Lose It!

Quickoffice

This app allows you to create a Spreadsheet and a fully functional Word document. I had been stuck with using Note and Mail apps before I discovered this. That's comparable to using Notepad for your school reports. It was very user friendly and I love the way it organized my files.

The Spreadsheet pretty much reacts the same way as a WinExcel program would, minus the complexities involved in learning to operate that goddarned Excel.

Some might file 8 under "stupidapps" but I find this very useful. I tend to lose track of just how much water I'm able to consume in a day. This app acts as a little reminder for forgetful people like me. It features a page with 8 glasses

..and you simply click on a glass whenever you drink one. The glass empties and a red reminder button appears on your apps page.

Rate: 3/5 Thumbs Up

Lose It!
This app is perfect for weight watchers and folks addicted to calorie counting.

It has a built in stock information that one simply chooses from. Amount and calories of foods are already indicated.

Should you wish to add foods or exercises not in the list, a custom food/exercise option is available.

Although I dare say the list is pretty much complete, as I've been able to log-in the tilapia I ate for breakfast.
Exercise of all sorts can also be found in the stock information in the apps, from Archery to YardWork--it's all there!

Detailed information of your exercise also helps in accurately computing for calories burned.

And lastly, the organization of your logs. From how often you do an exercise to what time of the day you ate the food,

it's all incorporated in this awesome app!
Rate:5/5 Thumbs Up

I also got Assassin's Creed, Zombieville USA, and Brushes. I'm still fiddling around with these new apps so I'll make the review when I've fully experienced it. :D

Off to UP in a bit!

Tam-awan 2009 meetin Yo [24 Jul 2009|03:32am]
Had an exhibit meeting at fine arts with old school mates--Jan, JC, Jun'x, Renz, Tone, Cian, Gino and Tonet. Also bumped into
Ipe and Vinty there. It was good to see old friends again, kaka-miss! Ayun lang, a couple of guys weren't there sa meeting. Sayang kasi one-time meeying siya. We decided on the theme and title, agreed on deadlines, finalized the members and delegated tasks. Tasks like creating posters and invites, exhibit expenses treasurer, etc. Baka na-turn off sa last one. Yung hindi um-attend sa meeting next time talagang hindi kasama sa show. Hmph. Sayang hindi sila andun when we agree on the topic, plus the number of works and sizes pa! O di no choice but to agree diba?

Anyhoo, 2 and a half months til the show. Paint na!

First entry [22 Jul 2009|09:48am]

Okay. This is my first entry using the LJ app. I'm not sure yet whether this creates a whole new account in LJ or this cross-posts to my livejournal (pandora'sbox) on the web. If it doesn't upload to my web LJ then this app would truly suck. :(

Anyhoo, the text edit seems to be in order. Requires a little html programming background to be able to use though. And when I say little, I mean knowing the backslash means end of text edit. LOL

Sana lang din mas madaming options yung font styles.

And lastly, it searches for your location para daw "accurate" yung update. Hmm, I don't think I want/need that little detail for my uploads.

Anyway, hope this posts via webLJ. *crosses fingers*

Google Wave, GMA, Jon & Kate + 8, NBA 2K9 [03 Jun 2009|08:37am]
I can't wait for Google Wave to be out for public use. I know the Google I/O presentation had points where the program failed but I'm still willing to give it a try. They had this program for chatting that enabled chatters to see what the other person is typing in real-time. That's so cool!

Watching Good Morning America right now, I hope they find the Air France plane. I get so freaked out with plane crashes but I love, love, love the Air Crash Investigations Series on NatGeo.

Even before the Jon & Kate + 8 drama exploded I have been an avid fan of that show. I feel bad for the little kids about being dragged into the drama. But I feel even worse for Jon & Kate -- the media is making things bigger than it really is and milking the story for all it's worth.

Ang saya ng NBA 2K9! Yun lang, I always lose to Ayo and Angel. *pout* Nonetheless, I love it!

Virtual Knee Surgery [18 Feb 2009|09:54am]
Edheads lets you take the role of a Surgeon as you go through a total knee replacement. You can also do Hip Replacement or Hip Resurfacing

Here are some screenshots of the game :D
First you go through the receptionist
You have to check the Medical history and Xrays of the patient before continuing on with the actual surgery. I imagined nodding to my colleagues with a slight frown and agreeing smartly that, "Uhurm, yes, I think we can proceed with the surgery, Dr.Smith."
There's also the marking of the knee with your initials. I was sorely tempted to make a graffiti out of my patient's knee, but the surgery beckons.
You get to clean out this "74-year old man's" knee with Betadine-soaked sponge. I thought the leg was quite shapely for a man his age.
Then you do more markings.
I won't put photos of the cutting of the skin with the scalpel and the cauterizing of the veins.
So fast forward to drilling the knee. Yikes!
You hammer in pins to hold in place tools that will guide you as you machete your way through the three bones.
Here's you acuttin' away the bones. I was sad that saw off lots of bone parts. It's same feeling I get when the dentist is removing a tooth. (Even the wisdom tooth) Or when donating blood. Like they're taking a bit of you away.
There's actually the installation of the metal and plastic parts that I'm not going to include here. You also move around the patients leg to 0 to 130 degrees to check if you're doing a good job. There are charts you check and questions you have to answer. It makes for a more believable surgery. :)

Since my painful realization and acceptance of my runner's knee, I have been contemplating getting a knee surgery. But only if and when the condition worsens. According to wiki research (Yey wiki!) the cause of the patella problem is normal wear and tear. The virtual game, with all the hammerin and sawin a 'happenin, gave me the creeps. Even though it was a frightful (and a tad fun) experience, I learned much more than I did reading my mom's medi books.

Thanks to Patrick for the link to this site. :)

GUIDE: What to do in case of Fire

**don't forget to wear the tie
----------

So far there's kwento in Californication. Just started watching it. I don't get Hank Moody's daughter. She looks like an ogre.
I'm still not done with Stylista but I see they've started to show it on Star World. Also, last night's show on Tyra Banks was about straight men who do gay porn. Tyra asked a "straight" dude which one he likes better: giving or receiving. He said receiving is better coz you can't see the other dude's face. Yer definitely not straight.

I love Mr. Ken Follett. He is my new Jeffrey Archer.

Went to Miggy's show last Wednesday. Soon to post photos on Mulitply. :D

Yey Stylista [05 Dec 2008|01:37am]
My "new" favorite show is Stylista.

Some thoughts I have on the show (So far, I'm just on Episode 2)
I hope Megan gets kicked out..
Anne Slowey looks like Madonna.
I felt bad for Jason and him having a panic attack. I used to think panic attack's weren't real, like you can deal with it with your head. But that was scary. The ambulance arrived and he had to be brought to the hospital. I hope that never happens to me.
________________________

I just found out that Tyra Banks is the producer of Stylista. The show did kind of have an ANTM feel to it. Speaking of ANTM, I just finished cycle 11. *Yey!* But I'm not too happy with who won.
------SPOILER ALERT-------
Sam shoul've won! She's friggin' hot.

McKey's upper lip touching the bottom of her nose kinda annoys me. Analeigh or Sam should've won. *sad*

HEAR WHAT OPRAH WINFREY HAD TO SAY ABOUT MEN [26 Aug 2008|09:44pm]
*got this from karla* thankee

HEAR WHAT OPRAH WINFREY HAD TO SAY ABOUT MEN

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to
be.

Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly
happy.

If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you
deserve then heck no, you can't 'be friends'. A friend wouldn't mistreat
a friend.
Don't settle.

If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is
Don't stay because you think 'it will get better'
You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are
not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different
women.
He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat
you any differently?

Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers
you, speak up.

Never let a man know everything.* He will use it against you later.

jogging anyone? :D on pregnancy ab muscles and batangas [26 Aug 2008|10:14am]
i jog at UP everyday. the acad oval is now one way so a whole lane is used for running or for bicycles. they say that a running mate is good because it regulates breathing as you talk with yer friend. so if you want company or you want to try running for the first time YM me (katzlorenzana) or text me (0917-5337237).

on other matters:
my friend's friend had a hard pregnancy and she had a c-section. her doctor said that her abdominal muscles were very thin. and that if she wants a second child she needs to do abdominal exercises. she's been slender all her life so she didn't find the need to workout her abs. in c-sect they sometimes cut through the muscles. paper thin ab muscles will not fare well when it's cut the second time, much more a third time. doctor's advice: workout your ab muscles before, during and after the pregnancy. this goes for all girls actually.

i went to batangas this sunday. i had the best time with my family. it was a very lazy day which is perfect. sayang lang the lorenzana-tan family wala dun. :( at tita carmen's house we ate breakfast then magic sing. at batangas we went to inay's then ate pilipit, ginataang bilobilo, chicharon, atis and coke. at their resthouse in batangas, we swam and played cards then ate pork liempo, lechon kawali, fried pampanong, tulingan na paksiw, corn soup with squash leaves, ginataang tinolang manok, pusit and adobo. nagpahinga lang then meryenda na pancit, dinugaan with puto at sumang batangas(malagkit). alam ko hihirit na si jonas niyan pero masaya talaga!! masaya kumain at mag-chill. i especially loved the part when the girls were swimming and i looked out into the ocean and i felt o so serene. i stored it in my head para i can access that when i feel stressed.

i'm truly going to miss my titas and bea. i wish i'd spent more time with them in the past. :(
